Born and raised in the Czech Republic. After earning a degree in management, my wanderlust took over, and spending an amazing year in England was just the beginning of my journey.

When I am not working, you can find me joining my pup for a stroll on the Tampa Riverwalk and Bayshore path watching pelicans, kayaking around Honeymoon Island or exploring nearby parks.

Yes, however, there are some rules and guidelines to be aware of. Tampa, Apollo Beach and Hillsborough County has 7 day (6 night) minimum stay requirement. Other cities such as Temple Terrace and Plant City have no regulations at all. You'll also need proof of property and liability insurance and will need to collect and remit State Sales, County Sales and Tourist Development taxes.

Before collecting any short-term rental taxes from your guests, you need to be aware of whether any taxes have already been collected for you. Any transient occupancy business is required to register with the Florida Department of Revenue and collect Florida transient occupancy taxes when the property is booked. If taxes aren’t being collected for you, you’re responsible for collecting and remitting taxes. The sales tax rate for Hillsborough County is currently 6%, the Florida state tax rate is 6% and the Discretionary Sales Surtax charged is based on the location where the lodging is furnished (Hillsborough County 1.50% and Pinellas County 1%).
